Recently, the Russian army has been putting into use many new weapons to compensate for the loss of equipment after 7 months of conflict in Ukraine.
Iranian-made suicide unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are also being quickly put into action and have begun to prove effective on the battlefield.
Colonel Rodion Kulagin, Kiev’s artillery commander during the counterattack in Kharkov, said that when it was first used in Ukraine, the Shahed-136 UAV blew up the US-made M777 howitzer.
`This UAV causes the howitzer to break in half. Instead of firing 100 artillery shells, deploying one of these UAVs is easier to find and destroy the target,` Mr. Kulagin said.
Also according to Mr. Kulagin, 6 attacks using Shahed-136 destroyed Ukrainian artillery and armored vehicles, killing 4 soldiers and injuring 16 others.
